- SynopsisBased on the early life of Francois Truffaut, twelve-year old Antoine Doinel lives in a poor quarter of Paris with his quarrelling parents. His life at a dilapidated school consists of ignorance and punishments. From time to time Antoine steals from his parents and plays truant from school with his friend René. One day they steal a typewriter in order to sell it to afford the fare to the seaside. Unable to sell it, Antoine is caught trying to return it and his exasperated father takes him to the local police station. Sent to an observation camp for juvenile delinquents he learns that his father has no interest in his future. Antoine escapes from the camp the following day and makes his way to the sea. (Synopsis)
